What Where When

Admission:
All stage shows and street entertainment are Free. Foods, crafts, and carnival rides are individually priced.

Alcohol:
Beer, wine & wine coolers will be sold.

Alcohol Sales:
Friday – 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Saturday – Noon to 10:30 p.m.
Sunday – Noon to 9:00 p.m.
Drinks may be consumed up to 30 minutes after sales end.

Dress Code:
No Shoes, No Shirt = No Service
Vendors are instructed to refuse service to anyone violating the dress code.

 

Street Closings:
All streets within the boundaries of the Decatur Celebration will be blocked off and
Vehicular traffic will not be allowed from 4 a.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday.

From the North
From Chicago take I-55 South to Bloomington, then US 51 South directly to Downtown Decatur.

From the South
There are many choices! US 51 North, Route 48 North or I-55 North and I-72 East.

From the West
From Springfield, take I-72 West to Decatur, take exit 141B onto US 51 South directly into Downtown Decatur.

From the East
From Champaign, take I-72 West to Decatur, take exit 141B Onto US 51 South directly into Downtown Decatur.

  • BABY STROLLER RENTAL
    Strollers are available at the Civic Center for a $5 donation.
  • BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING
    Free blood pressure screenings are available at the Decatur Memorial Hospital Care Center at Water & Main St..
  • BUS SERVICE
    The downtown transit center is located at 353 East William St., behind the Post Office. Rates: adults 75¢, senior/handicapped 35¢ and 5-18 years 60¢.  Monthly passes will be honored. Thursday, August 3: 5:15-10:15pm*; Friday, August 4: 5:15am-11:15pm*; Saturday, August 5: 6:15am-11:15pm*; Sunday, August 6-11:15am-9:15am* (*Last bus departing Downtown).
  • DIAPER CHANGING AREA
    Free at the Decatur Memorial Hospital Care Center by Prairieland Kiwanis, Water & Main St..
  • FIRST AID
    Services provided by the American Red Cross in the Civic Center Grass, First Aid Command Center at the Corner of Main & Franklin.
  • FREE WATER
    Provided at the Richland Community College Ice Water Oasis, southeast corner of Central Park.
  • HANDWASHING STATIONS
    For your convenience, hand washing stations complete with soap are available at North & Franklin St., Water & South Park St., State & Main St., and Franklin & North Park St..
  • LOST & FOUND
    Located in front of the Civic Center, managed by the Decatur Chapter of A T & T Telephone Pioneers.
  • MOTHER/BABY FEEDING AREA
    Privacy area provided by Decatur Memorial Hospital Care Center, corner of Water & Main.
  • MOTORCYCLE PARKING
    Freedom by Choice, ABATE Of Illinois will provide “Bike” parking at Air King, 250 East Eldorado (corner of Franklin & Eldorado).  Fee is $3. The lot will be open Friday 4 pm-10:30pm, Saturday 9 am-10:30pm and Sunday 10 am-9 pm.

    Available throughout the festival area and in the Civic Center. Handicapped facilities are available.

    Free Decatur Herald & Review programs, general information & accessible seating information will be available at the St Mary’s Hospital on the corner of Franklin & South Park St.

PERSONS WITH A DISABILITY SERVICES

PARKING
50 spaces at the Decatur Civic Center Parking Lot (North & Jackson Streets) will be reserved and 50 spaces at the Franklin Street Municipal Lot (between Wood & Main Streets) will be reserved. There will be a $3 charge. Vehicles must have permit cards properly displayed or designated license plates and the person with the disability must by present. The Franklin Street entrance will be closed during the parade Saturday morning. Parking will be managed Friday 4:00PM-9:00PM, Saturday 8:00AM-9:00PM and Sunday 11:00AM-8:00PM.

SEATING
Each of the Main Stages will have will have 10 chairs reserved for persons with a disability and one guest. There will be a roped off area for people in wheelchairs. These seats will be available at the Goodtimes Stage, Show Stage, Funfest Stage, Central Park Stage, Dancing in the Streets Stage and the Christian Music Stage.

TOLIETS
Accessible facilities are available at the Civic Center, see map for other locations.

PROGRAMS
Braille and large print programs will be available at the St Mary’s Visitor Information Center and at the handicapped accessible parking areas. They are available prior to the festival at the SAIL office, 2449 Federal Drive.

TRANSPORTATION
The subsidized van & taxi service for the disabled will offer rides during the festival. Decatur residents registered for the service should call 428-4444 for taxi service and 424-2821 for wheelchair accessible van service.

WHEELCHAIR RENTAL
Wheelchairs are provided by Heckman Healthcare and may be rented at the Civic Center for a $10 donation to Easter Seals. Hours are: Friday—5:30-11:00PM, Saturday—9:00AM-11:00PM, and Sunday--11:00AM

 

Decatur Celebration is the largest FREE family street festival in Illinois.

It features national entertainment with more than 79 one-of-a-kind food items; 100 arts and crafts vendors; 40 commercial vendors; dozens of street attractions; and 11 show stages, all centered in 22 city blocks of downtown Decatur, Illinois.
